OMD: Cassini + Gripchord

Working in collaboration with the legendary British electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark (OMD), hyphenate and Treadle & Loam—a Los Angeles based technology-and-design atelier—are developing a radical new real-time musical performance system codenamed GRIPCHORD. The GRIPCHORD system is an architectural-scale musical instrument that multiple musicians inhabit and play together, and promises to revolutionize live performance. In parallel to this exploration, hyphenate has brought OMD together with the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab to develop a series of immersive installations based around the Cassini mission to Saturn.
